Engaging in village government grows the good in Cold Spring.

We all know the old saying “When life gives you lemons, make lemonade.” With just under two thousand residents, Cold Spring must get by with only a small pool of volunteers and limited income sources. I’ve watched the five-person Board of Trustees run the village on shoestrings, bubblegum, and the elbow grease of citizens who care. As a person who grew up in a family that was strapped thin and had five kids, I know a thing or two about shoestrings and elbow grease- this is why I think I can be helpful here.

Cold Spring maintains a high quality of life despite these challenges.

Since the village has little opportunity to grow through expansion or new development, we must value our limitations as a part of our identity. We can make progress by finding efficiencies, such as ensuring that public spaces allow for multiple uses that serve many demographics. Limitations in labor can be overcome by encouraging volunteerism. I have a talent for getting people engaged and excited.

It’s fun to do projects and improve things together!
